Robin Block

Robin Block is a poet and musician. In his live performances he combines language, music and movement.

He is the author of the poetry collections Bestialities and the bilingual In Between, Di Antara (with Angelina Enny). His latest book Handbook for the Displaced was awarded the Herman de Coninck prize and the J.C. Bloem poetry prize, and was translated into English and Indonesian. Block also teaches poetry and works as an editor for renown Dutch poetry magazine Awater.

As a musician Robin Block brings dreamy indiepop with a folky edge. His music is both intimate and richly arranged, melancholic yet full of solace. As a singer-songwriter Robin Block won ‘Best Musician’ at the Grand Prize of The Netherlands and has played many stages and festivals. Check out the music page for the new album ‘Hello, Sun’!


Robin Block is dichter en muzikant. In zijn live performances combineert hij taal, muziek en beweging.

Hij publiceerde zijn gedichten onder andere in Het Liegend Konijn, Revisor, Tirade en Awater. Van zijn hand verschenen eerder de bundels Bestialen en het tweetalige In Between, Di Antara (samen met Angelina Enny). Zijn meest recente poëziebundel is Handleiding voor Ontheemden (Atlas Contact). Deze werd bekroond met Granate Poëzieprijs, De Herman de Coninckprijs en de J.C. Bloemprijs. De bundel werd vertaald naar het Engels en Indonesisch. Block werkt daarnaast als columnist, schrijfdocent en redacteur bij Poëzietijdschrift Awater.

Als muzikant brengt Robin Block dromerige Indiepop met een folky randje. Zijn muziek is zowel intiem als rijk gearrangeerd, melancholisch en troostrijk. Als singer-songwriter won hij ‘Beste Muzikant’ bij de Grote Prijs van Nederland, en speelde hij op vele podia en festivals.
